Stockholm is Europe’s fourth most attractive town for foreign investment. In the midst of a recession in 2010, the number of investments in companies in Stockholm rose by 12 percent, in comparison to 2009. 60 percent of these companies had an ICT focus.
Stockholm takes a giant leap forward in the foreign investment category according to a Cities & Regions of the Future 2010/2011 ranking by FDI Magazine and Financial Times.
Stockholm is now the fourth best city in Europe for foreign investment after London, Paris and Moscow. Stockholm has climbed 21 places since the 2008/2009 ranking. The evaluation is based on a number of benchmarks including quality of life, infrastructure, entrepreneurial climate and promotion strategy.
In 2010, the number of investments in Stockholm County increased by 12 percent, with the ICT sector being the most popular industry. More than 60 percent of these companies were active within the ICT industry. Stockholm continued to be the county that attracts both most investments and the highest percentage of invested capital.
