Preferred Choice of Companies and Business Leaders

“Ericsson has its global head office in Stockholm, and our collaboration with Stockholm City is strategically aimed at building an effective ICT infrastructure – both fixed and mobile. Our goal is that Stockholm will have the best, most effective broadband network in the world.”
- Mikael Bäckström, Ericsson, President of the Nordic and Baltic regions.

Stockholm has more large companies than any of its neighboring Nordic capitals. This is because Stockholm has several large domestic companies and their international head offices are based in Stockholm. And most multinational companies with regional head offices in Scandinavia have also placed them in Stockholm. Two thirds of all Fortune 100 companies with head offices in Scandinavia have established them in Stockholm.

And when business leaders can choose a city for their Scandinavian operations, Stockholm is the most popular choice according to the European Cities Monitor Survey 2009. One reason could be that the World Economic Forum ranks Sweden’s macroeconomic environment as one of the world’s best. More than every third new company in the country was started in Stockholm County and every fifth in Stockholm City.
